Amman Chamber of Commerce: Outcomes of the King's visit to London must be translated into business a

Amman – The Board of Directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce met today, Sunday, with British Ambassador to the Kingdom Philip Hall to discuss the steps the Jordanian private sector can take to turn the outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah II's visit to London last July into concrete results.
Both sides stressed the need to build on the strong momentum generated by the business forum held on the sidelines of the visit, in order to increase trade exchange, establish partnerships between the two business communities, raise trade volumes, and attract investment.
During the meeting, held at the Chamber's headquarters, they also discussed opportunities for cooperation in technology, the digital economy, water, transport, health, tourism, logistics, and value-added industries.
Chamber President Senator Khalil Haj Tawfiq stressed the need to translate the outcomes of His Majesty's visit into business and investment, by identifying the targeted companies, projects, and sectors, following up with British companies that have shown interest in Jordan, and broadening the base of Jordanian products and services able to enter the British market.
He affirmed the Chamber's readiness to cooperate with the Economic and Trade Section at the British Embassy to connect Jordanian companies with their British counterparts, and to exchange information on trade and investment opportunities and suppliers. This would help build direct partnerships and open new channels for Jordanian products and services.
He also pointed to the importance of activating the memorandum of cooperation signed between the Amman Chamber of Commerce and the West London chambers of commerce, through exchanging delegations, organizing business meetings, and promoting trade and investment opportunities. He stressed that the value of memoranda of understanding is measured by the actual business and partnerships that result from them.
He also called for reaching out to British companies operating in the region, introducing them to the advantages of Jordan, encouraging them to invest in it, and using it as a platform for accessing regional markets.
For his part, Ambassador Hall affirmed his country's commitment to strengthening trade and investment relations with Jordan and expanding ties between the two business communities, noting the importance of greater cooperation between companies and of making use of the available opportunities.
Ambassador Hall also called for reaching out to British companies that use the region as their regional business hubs and introducing them to the opportunities available in the Kingdom, in addition to boosting tourism between the two countries under a joint work program.
It is worth noting that Jordan's exports to the British market in the first half of 2026 reached about JD36 million, compared with JD121 million in imports.
The meeting was attended by the Chamber's First Vice President Nabil Al-Khatib and Board Member Amjad Al-Suwailimeen.
